Four Wolves Football Players Named To National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

Newberry College football seniors Grayson Leaphart (Computer Science), Burke Nettles (Sports Management), Tre Phillips (Graphic Design) and Davion Pyles (Sports Management) were named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

The National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society honors football student-athletes who are seniors or graduate students who have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have been a starter or major contributor to their team.

Leaphart (Gilbert HS) was the Wolves' starting tight end and caught seven passes for 91 yards a a touchdown, Nettles (Kingsland, Ga.) was the Wolves' starting kicker and punter, averaging just under 40 yards per punt, converted 13 field goals, with 31 kickoff touchbacks.  

Phillips (Myrtle Beach HS) was one of the Wolves' starting defensive ends and compiled  20 tackles including 1.5 for loss and Pyles (Irmo HS) was the Wolves' starting center and earned second team Don Hansen All-America and first team All-South Atlantic Conference honors.
