NEWBERRY, SC — The Newberry College men's volleyball team made history Tuesday night, earning its first home win in program history with a 3–0 sweep of Warren Wilson inside Eleazer Arena. The Wolves controlled the match from start to finish, winning in straight sets 25–18, 25–14, and 25–21.
Newberry delivered one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, hitting .444 as a team with 48 kills, while also recording nine service aces and 34 digs in the victory.
Lucas Nieves and Timothy Cox led the Wolves with 11 kills each, with both hitters posting an impressive .588 hitting percentage. Preston Anderson added 10 kills without an error, hitting .526, as Newberry's balanced attack overwhelmed Warren Wilson throughout the match.
Setter Greyson Crumpton directed the offense with 26 assists, while Tibulo Smith contributed 13 assists in a third set appearance to keep the attack flowing efficiently.
At the service line, the Wolves applied constant pressure, led by Ignacio Rodriguez and Cox with two aces apiece, while Newberry totaled nine aces as a team.
Defensively, Newberry was steady in the back row with Ethan Cooke recording four digs, while Nieves added eight digs to complete an all-around performance. At the net, Noah Pavao led the Wolves with three block assists.
With the win, Newberry improves to 4–11 on the season, marking a milestone moment for the program as the Wolves continue their inaugural campaign. They will face Warren Wilson again on Friday, this time in Swannanoa, NC.
