NEWBERRY,SC- Newberry women's basketball dropped a road contest at UVA Wise, 74–43, on Friday evening. The Cavaliers used a strong opening half to build momentum, taking a 42–16 lead into halftime. Despite the early deficit, the Wolves continued to compete throughout the final two quarters, looking to find rhythm on both ends of the floor. With the result, Newberry moves to (record) on the season.
Jada Brown turned in a standout performance for the Wolves, leading the team with 11 points while pulling down a game-high 19 rebounds, providing a steady presence in the paint and on the glass. Ryann Hernandez followed with 10 points, scoring efficiently and helping spark Newberry's offense in the second half. Reghan Williams contributed seven points, including a three-pointer, while Hannah Nimmo added five points and brought energy defensively. Newberry showed improvement after the break, nearly matching UVA Wise in stretches of the second half, but the early gap proved difficult to overcome as the Cavaliers secured the final score.
The Wolves will continue their road trip as they face Anderson on February 4th at 5:30 PM.
