NEWBERRY, SC-  Newberry College improved to 8–7 overall and 4–5 in South Atlantic Conference play with a thrilling 77–70 victory over Wingate University at Eleazer Arena. The Wolves demonstrated resilience throughout the contest, overcoming an early deficit and trading the lead three times before ultimately pulling ahead for good in the second half. The game featured multiple ties, including pivotal moments at 31–31 and 50–50, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Wingate pushed Newberry at nearly every turn, but the Wolves' composure and execution in key moments made the difference.

Drake Downs led the charge with a dominant 22 points and 12 rebounds, recording another impressive double-double for the season. Drew Robinson provided consistent outside shooting, scoring 16 points, while Makhi Rivers added 14 points, giving Newberry multiple scoring options. Malakhi Stremlow contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds, helping Newberry control the boards and create second-chance opportunities. Other contributors like Kayzzin McDowell, Houston Jones, and Brett Dent provided timely scoring and energy off the bench.
