This week's South Carolina Army National Guard Players of the Week are senior right side hitter Samantha Shaffer (Belle Isle, Fla.) and junior linebacker Devron Williams (Strom Thurmond HS).

Shaffer hit .292 with 10 kills, two block solos, three total blocks and two digs to lead the Wolves (6-3) to a 3-0 sweep over Emory &
Henry in the team's home opener.  She is tied for the team lead in hitting percentage (.233) and is third on the team with 14 total blocks.  In her four-year career she has 690 kills and 184 blocks.

Williams returned from injury to lead the Wolves defense with eight total tackles, five solo in a 20-17 road win over Lenior-Rhyne. Newberry ranks 15^th in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 15 points per game. In the two games he has played in this season he has recorded 21 tackles and has 76 tackles in 14 career games.
