De'Andre Coleman had four receptions for 90 yards, but it wasn't enough as Catawba (3-1, 2-0) used a late goal line stand to hold off the Wolves (2-1, 1-1) 21-10.
Newberry's offense rallied in the second half and twice drove inside the Catawba 20-yard line in the fourth quarter but only came away with three points.
The Wolves had the ball second and one on the Catawba 13-yard line but couldn't convert and settled for a
Burke Nettles 31-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 14-10.
But Catawba immediately responded with a 41-yard kickoff return and scored on fourth and goal from the Wolves' two-yard line to increase the lead to 21-10.
The Wolves responded on their next drive with the big play coming on a 41-yard pass completion from Charpia to Colemen.
But Catawba stopped the Wolves on fourth and goal from the four-yard line and ran out the clock to end the game.
Each team ran 58 plays with Catawba outgaining the Wolves 376 to 314 with Newberry holding a 170-149 advantage in the second half.
Jamar Blandin led the Wolves' defense with 10 total tackles including a quarterback sack.
The Wolves trailed at halftime 14-7.
Catawba rolled up 227 yards of total offense to just 144 for Newberry and ran ten more plays than the Wolves in the first 30 minutes.
Catawba outgained the Wolves on the ground 99 yards to 56 and through the air 128 yards to 88.
Charpia completed 9 of 15 passes for 88 yards with Coleman catching a pair of passes for 40 yards.
After Catawba grabbed a 7-0 on their first offensive possession of the game, the Wolves answered early in the second quarter when wide receiver
Keith Desaussure took an end around and ran 23 yards down the sideline for a touchdown to tie the game.
Catawba came back to score with 5:12 left in the half to grab the halftime advantage.
