CENTRAL, SC – The Newberry College men's soccer team remained undefeated to start the 2025 season, earning a 2-1 road win over Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday night at Childs Field.
The Wolves struck early when Jacob Davis scored in the ninth minute off an assist from Alex Lopez. After controlling much of the match, Newberry doubled its lead in the 78th minute as Giuseppe Gereau found the back of the net on a setup from Tomás Queirós.
Southern Wesleyan pulled one back in the 90th minute, but goalkeeper Charlie Clark made two key saves on the night to preserve the final. The Wolves finished with nine shots, six on target, and earned a pair of corners, while the defense held the Warriors to just three shots on frame despite 11 total attempts.
With the result, Newberry improves to 2-0-1 on the season, extending its unbeaten start heading into South Atlantic Conference play this Saturday in their first home match of the season vs. Tusculum at 6pm.
