HARTSVILLE, SC – The Newberry College volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-21) to Coker on Tuesday evening at the DeLoach Center, in their first South Atlantic Conference contest of the 2025 season.
The Wolves finished with 30 kills and a .052 hitting percentage as a team. Carole Ann Hussey led the attack with eight kills on a .250 hitting percentage, while Anna Schneider and Gabby Warren each added seven and five kills respectively. Setter Annie Dill dished out 25 assists to go with six digs, and libero Hailey Clayworth held the back row with nine digs.
Defensively, Newberry totaled 56 digs as a team. Despite making a push in the third set, where the Wolves tallied 12 kills, the Cobras held strong and were able to close out the match.
With the loss, Newberry moves to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in SAC play as they look to bounce back in their next match on Friday when they face conference opponent UVA Wise on the road at 6pm.
