MARS HILL, NC – Behind an amazing night from goalkeeper Charlie Clark, the Newberry College men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Mars Hill on Friday evening at Meares Stadium in their conference opener.
Clark recorded a season-high nine saves, including six in the second half, to post his first clean sheet of the year. The Wolves' defense held firm despite Mars Hill's 13 total shots.
On the attacking side, Giuseppe Gereau had a team-high of four shots, while Seraphin Guetan and Filip Tmusic each added a shot on goal. Newberry managed nine total shots and three on target, but both sides ultimately failed to break through.
With the result, the Wolves move to 1-0-1 (0-0-1 SAC) on the season and remain unbeaten as they continue their early stage of conference play. Newberry will travel to Southern Wesleyan in their next match on September 17th at 7pm.
