WISE, VA - The Wolves were on the road today against UVA Wise and split wins between the two teams. The women's team swept UVA Wise 4-0 while the men lost 4-1.

Newberry Women's Tennis delivered a commanding performance in their 4-0 sweep over UVA Wise on Wednesday afternoon at the Humphreys Tennis Complex.

The Wolves jumped ahead in doubles play, securing the point behind a convincing 6-3 win by Margarita Roshka and Alexa Gamborino-Suarez. Lina Sarhan and Hazel Vernon added to the momentum with a win by default at No. 3 doubles, while the No. 1 duo of Emma Arnal and Renee Dorval were locked in a tight battle before the match was left unfinished at 4-5.

In singles, Newberry's dominance continued. Gamborino-Suarez cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win, and the Wolves picked up additional points via default victories from Dorval and Vernon. Matches at the top three singles positions went unfinished, but Newberry led in each, highlighted by Arnal's 6-2, 5-0 advantage before play was halted.

Men's Recap
Despite strong individual performances, Newberry Men's Tennis fell 4-1 to a tough UVA Wise squad in their Wednesday matchup.

The doubles point slipped away after close contests. Daniel Negzaoui and Joshua Fritz earned the Wolves' lone doubles win with a 6-3 victory at No. 2. However, UVA Wise claimed the other two matchups to take the early 1-0 lead.

In singles, Negzaoui was a standout for Newberry, powering through for a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1. The Wolves battled hard in other matches—Joshua Fritz was locked in a third set after splitting the first two at No. 3, and Noel Bartz was in a tight contest before his match was called unfinished.

Lucas Mruk was forced to retire in the second set, and despite a gritty effort from Daniel Watson at No. 2, he narrowly dropped a tiebreak in the second set to fall 6-3, 7-6 (7).
