Lewis regained the lead with a goal, but Newberry continued to apply pressure, forcing turnovers and creating offensive opportunities. Snow struck again at 3:21, bringing the Wolves within one after a Lewis goal made it 3-1.
The second quarter saw Newberry's offense start to find its rhythm, with Liam Vollans scoring just seconds into the period to tie the game at 3-3. Andrew Marks gave the Wolves their first lead of the game at 9:48, finishing off an assist from Snow. However, Lewis responded quickly, capitalizing on penalties and regaining the lead with back-to-back goals, making it 5-4.
Vollans found the net again at 6:57 to level the score at 5-5, but Lewis took advantage of a man-up situation to pull ahead 7-5 by the end of the half.
In the third quarter, Newberry fought to keep pace with Lewis. A goal from Kai Talley late in the period brought the Wolves within two at 8-6, but Lewis maintained its lead heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Newberry's offense push for a comeback. Vollans continued his strong performance, scoring his third goal of the game with 9:15 remaining. Jonny Maclean and Scott Williams each added goals late in the quarter to keep the Wolves in striking distance, but their resilience wasn't enough with the game ending 12-10 in the Lewis' favor.
Newberry will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue their season. The Wolves will take the field again on February 9th against the University of Indianapolis.
