NEWBERRY, SC – Newberry opened their series against Wayne State (Mich.) in dominant fashion, rolling to a 13-0 shutout victory behind explosive offense and stellar pitching. Bryson Nuckols delivered a standout performance going 2-2 with two doubles and two walks, while Ethan LeBron tossed six scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing only 3 hits to earn the win.
A productive 4-hit and 3-walk fourth inning gave the Wolves an 8-0 early on in the game.
LeBron earned the win, pitching 6.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits.
The Wolves bullpen was no break for the Wolves. Keillor Osbon pitched two scoreless innings with three k's, while Thomas Wayne closed the game in the 9th with a one-hit allowed inning.
A 2-RBI triple from Anthony Plotkin in the top of the 7th wrapped this game up for the Wolves, 13-0.
Newberry improves to 5-0 on the season and looks to carry its momentum into the next game of the series, tomorrow, February 8th, in a double header at 12pm and 3pm.
