GAFFNEY, SC -- Despite a strong defensive effort and quality at-bats, Newberry couldn't break through offensively in a 9-0 loss to Limestone on Friday night at Founders FCU Stadium. The Wolves collected seven hits, including a triple from Cooper Gentry, but struggled to capitalize with runners on base. On the mound, Ethan Lebron turned in a six-inning start, while the bullpen limited damage late.
Gentry provided a spark off the bench with a pinch-hit triple, the Wolves' only extra-base hit of the game.
Anthony Plotkin led the Wolves with two hits, continuing to be a strong hitter in the lineup.
Lebron battled through six innings, striking out four while limiting damage in the middle innings.
The Wolves turned in nine assists and limited mistakes in the field.
Newberry put runners on base in multiple innings but left eight stranded.
Newberry will look to bounce back and even the series in their next matchup tomorrow, March 1st, in a doubleheader at 1pm and 3pm.
