Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – A red-hot shooting performance and stifling defense fueled Newberry to a commanding 86-62 victory over the Pioneers of Tusculum University on Saturday night at Eleazer Arena.
Newberry (12-14, 9-13 SAC) shot a blistering 57.4% from the field, knocking down 11 three-pointers while stifling the opposing offense. The home team set the tone early, racing out to a 42-27 halftime lead and never looking back.
James Lovorn led the way with a game-high 19 points, sinking five three-pointers. Drew Robinson tallied 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Malakhi Stremlow came close to a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Devario Sheppard also scored 12 points, and Makhi Rivers added 10 to round out the balanced scoring attack.
Newberry's defense held firm, forcing 13 turnovers and limiting the opposition to just 39.7% shooting. The home squad also controlled the paint, outscoring the visitors 40-22 inside.
The Wolves will celebrate Senior Night in their final home game on February 26 at 7:30 p.m., hosting the Trojans of Anderson University.
