Newberry Holds Off Carson-Newman in 2-1 Victory

NEWBERRY, SC – In a tightly contested battle at the Smith Road Complex, the Newberry Wolves leaned on clutch hitting and a stellar pitching performance to edge out Carson-Newman 2-1 on Friday afternoon. Kade Faircloth led the charge with a three-hit game, while Wilson Wages and Luke White delivered key RBIs. Ethan LeBron set the tone on the mound, and the Wolves' bullpen locked down the final innings to secure the hard-fought conference win.

 

Newberry jumped out early, scoring in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead.

 

Faircloth led the Wolves at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

 

LeBron tossed a strong outing, allowing six hits over five-plus innings while giving up just one earned run.

 

John Rollings shut down Carson-Newman over the final 2.1 innings, allowing no hits and striking out two.

 

Despite two errors, Newberry made key plays in the field, securing 27 putouts and turning a crucial double play.

 

Newberry held Carson-Newman scoreless in the dangerous final two innings to seal the victory.

 

The Wolves will face off against the Eagles again tomorrow (February 22nd) in a double header matchup at 1pm and 4pm at the Smith Rd. Complex.
