NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry College baseball team secured a 9-5 win over Tusculum on February 15 at Smith Road Complex, wrapping up the three-game series with a decisive victory.
Bryson Nuckols (3-for-4, 2 RBIs, 3 runs) led in hitting for the Wolves, including a two run single in the fourth inning.
Starter Hunter French delivered a steady outing, striking out two over four innings while allowing two earned runs. Keillor Obson came in during the fifth inning, earning the win for the Wolves.
Campbell McCurry contributed two hits, an RBI, and a walk with a big double in the fifth inning.
Blake Morrison earned the save for the Wolves pitching in the late four innings, allowing only one earned run with five strikeouts.
RBI singles from Carson Hayes and Wilson Wages in back to back innings put the Wolves up by five going into the ninth.
With the victory, Newberry improves to 8-3 (2-1 SAC) on the season and will look to carry this momentum into their next series.
