Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry men's basketball team put together a strong all-around performance to secure a 79-66 victory on Saturday night at Eleazer Arena. The Wolves (9-11, 6-10 SAC) used an efficient offensive attack and dominant rebounding to pull away in the second half.
Newberry held a narrow 32-30 lead at halftime before erupting for 47 second-half points to seal the win. The Wolves shot 45.8% (27-for-59) from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers. They also controlled the boards, out-rebounding their opponent 41-38.
Drew Robinson led the way with 17 points, hitting three three-pointers while adding six rebounds and three assists. Devario Sheppard provided a big presence inside with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. James Lovorn added 12 points, including three triples, while Drake Downs tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.
Newberry's defense stepped up with five steals and three blocks, forcing 15 turnovers that led to 21 points. The Wolves also capitalized on fast breaks, scoring 12 points in transition. The Wolves next game will be against the Bulldogs of Wingate 7:30PM on Feb 5th.
