MARS HILL, NC – The Newberry Wolves fell in straight sets on the road Tuesday evening, dropping a 3–0 decision (18–25, 23–25, 23–25) to Mars Hill at Chambers Gymnasium. The Wolves move to 10–12 overall and 5–10 in South Atlantic Conference play with the loss.
Evie Paalman paced the Wolves offensively, posting 15 kills on a .364 hitting percentage, while Carole Ann Hussey followed with 10 kills and a .241 clip. Samantha Shaffer added seven kills and a team-high 12 digs, while Annie Dill dished out 17 assists and Merryck Brackett contributed 12 assists of her own.
Defensively, Hailey Clayworth anchored the back row with 15 digs, and Madison Watson tallied three block assists at the net. As a team, the Wolves finished with 39 kills, 64 digs, and four total blocks on the night.
Newberry looks to bounce back when they return home for Senior Night against UVA Wise at 6pm on Friday.
