NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry College volleyball team delivered a strong all-around performance on Thursday night, earning a 3–1 victory (11–25, 25–22, 27–25, 25–23) over Lincoln Memorial inside Eleazer Arena. With the win, the Wolves improve to 10–10 overall and 5–8 in South Atlantic Conference play.
After dropping the opening set, Newberry regrouped behind the attacking trio of Evie Paalman, Carole Ann Hussey, and Jana Price, combining for 35 of the team's 52 kills. Paalman led the Wolves with 14 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while Hussey followed closely with 11 kills and Price added 10 kills and a block assist.
Setter Annie Dill orchestrated the offense with 21 assists, eight digs, and two service aces, while Merryck Brackett dished out another 22 assists to keep the Wolves' attack balanced. Allyson Garcia provided a spark from the service line with three aces and 13 digs, while Hailey Clayworth added nine digs and a service ace to anchor the back row.
Defensively, Gabby Warren tallied three block assists, and Samantha Shaffer added eight kills, two blocks, and nine points in another solid outing.
Newberry returns to Eleazer Arena tomorrow to continue SAC play as the Wolves take on Wingate at 4pm.
