NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry volleyball team put on a dominant performance in their home match Friday night, sweeping Mars Hill 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-21) inside Eleazer Arena. With the win, the Wolves improve to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Carole Ann Hussey led the offense with 14 kills while hitting an impressive .379, also adding three block assists for a team-high 15.5 points. Evie Paalman and Anna Schneider each chipped in seven kills, with Schneider also collecting 12 digs and an ace. Setter Annie Dill led the Wolves with 15 assists, while libero Hailey Clayworth anchored the defense with a match-high 16 digs.
Newberry out-blocked Mars Hill 11-3 on the night, with Madison Watson and Gabby Warren combining for nine total blocks. As a team, the Wolves finished with 38 kills, 71 digs, and three aces, holding the Lions to just a .050 hitting percentage.
The Wolves will look to carry the momentum into their next conference matchup as they move into their next match on the road vs. Lenoir-Rhyne at 2pm tomorrow.
