NINETY SIX, S.C. – The Newberry men's golf team closed out competition at the Patriot Fall Classic on Tuesday afternoon, finishing 12th overall in a competitive 19-team field at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.
The Wolves posted rounds of 293-294-298 for a three-round total of 885 (+21). Leading the way for Newberry were Fredrik Gannon and Julius Gieraths, who both tied for 22nd place with matching totals of 216 (E). Gannon fired a final-round 70 (-2) to pace the team on the final day, while Gieraths turned in a strong second-round 69 (-3) to stay even for the event.
Josh Greig followed in a tie for 55th at 224 (+8), with Jesper Gruendemann and Daniel Donato rounding out the lineup at 229 (+13) and 238 (+22), respectively. Wingate University captured the team title with a score of 834 (-30), while Lander and Saint Leo rounded out the top three.
The Wolves return to the course October 27–28 when they compete in the Barton Fall Intercollegiate to conclude their fall schedule.
