The Newberry College Wolves (5-1, 4-1) host the Mars Hill Lions (3-3, 2-2) for Homecoming tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Setzler Field.

Newberry is alone in second place in the SAC race, one half game behind Emory & Henry (5-1) which travels to Setzler Field next Saturday after hosting Wingate today.

The Wolves are riding a three-game winning streak with all three game winning scores coming on their final offensive possession.

All three games also featured come from behind efforts.

Last week the Wolves rallied from a 21-13 third quarter deficit to beat Tusculum 35-28 on Jonah Norris' one-yard touchdown run with 1:37 remaining in the game.

The Lions have been a thorn in the side of the Wolves, owning a 34-13 advantage in the series and winning five of the last six matchups including last year's 34-9 victory here at Setzler Field.

That lone victory was a big one, a 27-24 victory in the 2022 SAC championship game at Setzler Field.

Wide receiver Keith Desaussure posted his third 100-yard receiving game of the year, his second straight as he grabbed 11 passes for a second consecutive game for a career high 143 yards and a score in the win over Tusculum.  He already has a career high 46 catches for 532 yards and seven touchdowns and leads the SAC in receiving yards per game, touchdown catches, receptions and yards.

Linebacker Jamar Blandin had 12 tackles, six solo including a quarterback sack as the Wolves held Tusculum to just 13 first downs and 226 yards of total.  Blandin leads the SAC in tackles per game (10.5) and total tackles (63).

Quarterback Reed Charpia leads the SAC in passing yards per game (260.2), is second in pass completion (71.2%), and is tied for the lead in touchdown passes (15) with only one interception throw in 184 attempts.
