Balanced Attack Leads Wolves to 5–0 Shutout at Barton

WILSON, N.C. – The Newberry field hockey team remained perfect on the season with a convincing 5–0 win over Barton on Tuesday afternoon at Truist Stadium. The Wolves improved to 11–0 overall and 7–0 in South Atlantic Conference play, using a quick start and dominant two-way performance to secure another road victory.

Newberry wasted no time setting the tone, as Parker Keeler opened the scoring just 81 seconds into the match. Emma Westbrook added her 14th goal of the season midway through the first quarter off a setup from Wibien Dahmen, and Ella Allardice notched her first collegiate goal late in the period with an assist from Karlijin Frenken to make it 3–0 after 15 minutes.

The Wolves extended their lead in the second quarter when Payton Keeler buried her seventh goal of the season, and Zoe Barker capped the scoring in the third with her first of the year. Newberry's offense controlled the pace throughout, outshooting Barton 25–4 and earning ten penalty corners in the process. On the defensive end, goalkeepers Kensley Harris and Olivia Zavacki combined for three saves in the shared shutout, as the Wolves' back line limited the Bulldogs to just three shots on goal. Westbrook and Payton Keeler each led the way with six shots, while the Wolves' balanced attack featured five different goal scorers.

The Wolves will be back in action Saturday, traveling to face Lincoln Memorial at 12 p.m. in another conference showdown.
