NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry College volleyball team fought through four competitive sets but ultimately fell 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23) to Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday evening inside Eleazer Arena.
The Wolves (7-6, 2-5 SAC) showed grit throughout the match, rallying to take the second set behind a strong offensive effort. Anna Schneider led the attack with 11 kills, 15 digs, and two service aces, finishing with 14.5 total points. Jana Price followed suit with 10 kills and 16 digs, while Gabby Warren added six kills and a team-high nine block assists to anchor the front line.
Setter Merryck Brackett controlled the offense with 26 assists and 17 digs, while Hailey Clayworth contributed seven digs and three assists. Madison Watson added six kills and four total blocks, helping Newberry post 13 team blocks to Lenoir-Rhyne's 10.
Newberry moves to 7-6 overall and 2-5 in South Atlantic Conference play and will look to bounce back at home in their next matchup at home vs. Coker on Tuesday at 6pm.
