Newberry Wolves Bring the Heat in Their First Meet of The New Year

WINSTON-SALEM, NC: The Newberry Wolves kicked off the new year with a strong showing at their first track meet of the season, delivering standout performances on both the track and in the field. The Wolves showcased their depth and determination across every event.

 

in the Men's 60m prelims Ja Narris Hillman placed 20th with a time of 7.18.

 

In the women's 60m prelims Meah Jackson also finished 20th with a time of 8.15. Madalynn Williams made it to the qualifying rounds and finished 10th with a time of 8.35.

 

Madalynn Williams led the Wolves in the Women's 60m hurdles placing 23rd with a time of 9.79

 

In the men's 200m (seeded) Justin Canty ran a time of 23.38, landing him in 8th place. With a time of 22.76, Shamar Brown was able to secure himself a 4th place finish in the men's 200m.

 

Jameria Davis led the wolves in the women's 200m with a time of 27.45, securing her a 17th place finish. Not too far behind was Kamryn Adderton who ran a 27.66 placing her in 20th.

 

In the Men's 400m, Nehemiah Smith finished in 25th with a time of 56.70.

 

Ruby Hansen made her mark in the women's 1000m placing 4th with a time of 3:28.69.

 

Tyler Shumate led the Wolves in the men's one mile with a time of 4:33.16, which landed him a 10th place finish.

 

Drew Benson placed 24th with a time of 9:26.70 in the men's 3000m.

 

Starting off the field events was Jefferey Jackson in the men's high Jump. Jackson finished in 6th with a height of 1.87m.

 

In the women's high jump the Wolves were led by Mia Dionisio who is ranked #33 in NCAA Division II College Indoor. Dionisio finished 2nd with a height of 1.65m.

 

In the men's long jump Joshua Steele finished in 18th place with a distance of 5.87m. Steele also competed in the men's triple jump and secured a 10th place finish with a distance of 12.90m.

 

Mesh Jackson jumped solo for the Wolves in the women's long jump and finished 7th place with a distance of 5.09m.

 

Jhayden Gettison placed 16th in the men's shot put with a distance of 11.26m. Sharing the same distance was ShaNadia Marshal who was able to secure 10th place in the women's shot put.

 

In the men's weight throw Sean Price finished in 2nd place with a 14.38m throw.

 

Irma Watson-Perez was ranked #32 in NCAA Division II Indoor and finished in an outstanding 1st place with a 16.85m throw.

 

 Landon Tucker, Shamar Brown, Ja Narris Hillman, and Justian Canty dominated the men's 4x400m relay and finished in 1st place with a time of 3:30.77.

 

The women's 4x400m relay was run by Brittany Montgomery, Ruby Hansen, Nia Quimby, and Mia Dionisio and they were able to finish in 7th place with a time of 4:22.41.

 

The men's 4x800m relay was run by Tavarian Thomson, Larry Scott, De'Angelo Hibbert and Tyler Shumate. This group ran a time of 8:37.19 and finished in 5th place.

 

The Wolves will compete next on January 24th and 25th at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA.
