NEWBERRY, SC – The Newberry Wolves delivered a commanding performance in their dual against the Limestone Saints, earning a decisive 35-13 victory. The Wolves showcased grit and skill across the weight classes, securing critical points that paved the way for their win.
Newberry kicked off their momentum at 141 pounds as Braden Tatum put on a dominant display against Richard Patanjo, securing a technical fall with a 15-0 victory in just 2:21. This electrifying performance cut Limestone's lead to 9-5.
Dennis Virelli set the tone at 157 pounds, dominating Malachi Thomas with a 15-0 technical fall in 5:19, bringing Newberry closer to Limestone, 13-10.
The Wolves then tied the evening with Nick Humphrys' hard fought 5-1 decision over Samuel Daniels at 165 pounds. Bringing the score to 13-13.
At 174 pounds, Newberry's Dayton Fields capitalized on a Limestone forfeit, extending the Wolves' lead. Andrew Reed followed suit at 184 pounds, overwhelming Peyton Miles with an 11-2 major decision. Another forfeit at 197 pounds handed six more points to Newberry making their lead 29-13.
The highlight of the night came at heavyweight, where Kale Schrader electrified the crowd by pinning Caleb Melton in a lightning fast 27 seconds, sealing the Wolves' win 35-13.
In an extra match at 133 pounds, Caiden Pelc added to Newberry's impressive showing, pinning Nathanael Bullard in 1:48 to cap off the night.
The Wolves will compete next at UNC Pembroke on January 21st at 7 PM.
