Murfreesboro, NC – Newberry Volleyball falls 3-0 against Lincoln Memorial on day two of the Chowan Tournament.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• In set one, the match was evened up to a 6-6 tie after a service error.

• From that point on LMU ran away with the set holding Newberry to nine points, final set score of 25-9.

• In set two, with a similar beginning, after a kill by Emma Christensen and an attack error, the score was tied 8-8.

• In similar fashion to set one, LMU had the upper hand the rest of the way. Final set score 25-11.

• Set three was a very competitive one. Newberry found their first mid-set lead of the day going up 12-11 after two attack errors on LMU. 

• Newberry laid on some more points turning the score to 16-14 after a kill by Carole Ann Hussey.

• A 4-0 run for LMU followed by a 3-0 run from Newberry, tied the game at 19-19 after a kill by Abigail Kesler.

• Keeping it close, a kill from Samantha Shaffer, assisted by Giovanna Ravanahni, and an attack error tied the set up at 24-24.

• Back to back kills from the Railsplitters ended Newberry's grasp, ending the third set 26-24.
