Slippery Rock, PA--On Sunday, September 22nd, the Newberry Wolves Field Hockey team (6-0 overall, 3-0 SAC) continued their Pennsylvania road trip, facing off against Slippery Rock (2-3 overall, 0-0 PSAC). The Wolves secured a close 1-0 victory, marking their sixth straight win of the season, following an impressive triumph against Mansfield just the day before.
Â
In the first period of the game, the Wolves displayed an impressive defensive performance, effectively limiting Slippery Rock to just one shot on goal. Meanwhile, Newberry took control of the offense, generating three shots and creating several scoring opportunities to establish their dominance early on. Newberry also succeeded in freezing Slippery Rock's defense, applying constant pressure that forced the Rock to commit fouls early in the game. This aggressive play earned the Wolves three short corners.
Â
On the other hand, Slippery Rock was able to assert some control during the match, successfully limiting the Wolves to just ten shots for the entire game. However, their dominance was short-lived, as senior

Tamsin Bangert, making this Chikoore's second goal of the season.
Â
After Chikoore's goal, Slippery Rock struggled to regain their footing, resulting in a flurry of fouls- six in third period and two more in the fourth. Meanwhile,
Kyla Cooke played a crucial role in maintaining defensive stability for the Wolves, making four key saves to help secure their lead. With the Wolves maintaining control of both offense and defense, they secured the victory, finalizing the score at 1-0.
Â
The Wolves are set to play their next game at home against Wingate at 6 PM on Thursday, September 26th, at Setzler Field. With momentum on their side, they are eager to extend their winning streak to seven and build on their strong performance this season.
