SPARTANBURG, SC – The Newberry College Men's and Women's cross country teams competed in the 2024 Converse Kickoff. The men ran an 8k and placed 15th as a team and the Women ran a 6k.
Leading the Wolves was Tyler Shumate who placed 103rd, with a total time of 28:11.4, and 80 points.
Following behind him was Drew Benson who placed 128th, with a total time of 29:07.7, and 95 points.

This race was the men's first 8k of the season and women's first 6k of the season.
"They have an 8k under their legs now and I see them getting better from this race," Said Coach Scott Hutchinson. "Super proud of the Ladies that competed as this was the first 6k of the season… They competed hard and represented our program the right way."
The men's and women's cross country teams will be hosting their next meet on October 5th, at The Johnson Farm, Newberry, SC.
