CENTRAL, SC – Women's soccer defeats Southern Wesleyan 1-0 to improve to 3-0 on the season. Best start for the Wolves since 2020.

LOCATION: Childs Field, Southern Wesleyan University – Central, SC

RECAP: The Wolves stay undefeated in a 1-0 thriller vs. the Southern Wesleyan Warriors. With a first half goal from Isabella Tellez and strong defensive performance, the Wolves held off the Warrior's attempt to comeback.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • In the 38' Newberry jumped on the board with the only goal of the game from freshman midfielder Isabella Tellez. Her first goal of the season. Assisted by Natalie Ruiz, her first of the season as well.

  • Newberry began their defensive front heading into the second half with a 1-0 lead.

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Waller was subbed in at the beginning of half two after a shutout half from sophomore Aubrey Cripe.

  • Waller tallied 2 saves in the second half, holding the Warriors scoreless.

  • Newberry improves to 3-0 on the season, best start since 2020.
