NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team (21-25, 15-12 SAC) will honor their senior class during their three-game series against the Wasps of Emory & Henry College this weekend at the Smith Rd. Complex.
The three-game series will be on Friday and Saturday, with the Senior Day ceremony before the Saturday doubleheader.

Scouting The Wolves
- The Wolves enter the final South Atlantic Conference weekend series with a 21-25 overall record and a 15-12 SAC mark. The Wolves lost a conference series for the first time since February last weekend in Harrogate against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial. With one win, the Wolves will clinch a spot in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
- Junior outfielder Donovan Ford continues to shine for the Wolves on the offensive end. The Greenville native is three hits away from becoming the ninth ever Newberry baseball player to reach 200 career hits.
- Junior right-hander Hunter French has been continuing to appear in the weekend rotation for the Wolves. French holds a 5-3 record in 10 starts with 27 strikeouts so far this season.
Scouting the Wasps.
- The Wasps enter the weekend series with a 11-35 overall record and a 6-21 record in the South Atlantic Conference. The Wasps are coming off a big win over regionally ranked Belmont Abbey 8-6 Tuesday evening in Emory.
- The Wasps offense has been led by senior infielder Jared Foley. Foley holds a .384 batting average with 13 doubles and 32 runs driven in this season. Against Belmont Abbey, third basemen Steven Smith went 3-4 with a solo home run in the 8-6 win.
- The Wolves will likely face senior right hander Bryson Wagner. Wagner has a 3-7 record in 12 starts with 78 strikeouts and six complete games for the Wasps throughout the 2024 campaign.
