NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team had four players with multiple hits in their 10-0 win over Emory & Henry (11-36, 6-22 SAC) Friday night at the Smith Rd. Complex.
The four Wolves include
Jacob LeBron,
Donovan Ford,
Luke Compton, and
Chandler Mims. Mims had three hits in the evening, while Ford extended his hit streak to 26 games.
Senior right hander
Matias Marchesini threw seven innings, only allowing one hit and striking out five Wasp hitters.
The Wolves got their scoring started with a three-run run first inning that included rbi singles from
Kade Faircloth, Compton, and
Jomar Lugo to give the Wolves an early 3-0 lead.
In the second, the Wolves would add another run with a rbi single from Ford to make it 4-0. Two innings later, LeBron would reach on a fielding error that would bring in two runs to make it 6-0.
In LeBron's next at-bat, he would rip a triple over the right fielder's head to score two runs, then scoring on an errant throw to third trying to gun him down to make it 9-0.
Then with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth,
Keillor Osbon would draw a pinch hit walk to give the Wolves a run rule victory over the Wasps 10-0.
