Wolves Set for Neutral Site Clash with No. 10 Trojans.

NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team (21-21, 15-9 SAC) will head back to Florence to face the NCBWA No. 10 ranked Trojans of Mount Olive (29-11, 17-6 CC) in CarolinaBank Field home of the Florence Flamingos.
 
The Wolves and Trojans faced off last Wednesday in CarolinaBank Field where the Trojans took a 7-4 win.
 
The game will not be streamed live but there will be live stats provided on newberrywolves.com.
 
Scouting The Wolves
  • The Wolves won their sixth straight South Atlantic Conference Series with a Saturday doubleheader sweep against Limestone.
  • Freshman outfielder Luke Compton drove in five runs in the game one 6-3 win over Limestone on Saturday. Junior outfielder Donovan Ford has a team high .429 batting average, six triples, and 23 stolen bases. With his stolen base in the bottom of the seventh in game two, Ford is now tied with Braylin Marine for second all-time in career stolen bases with 79.
  • Freshman right-hander John Rollings earned his first career win for the Wolves in the 8-7-win Saturday. Rollings went 4 innings in relief striking out two batters and not allowing a run to earn the win.

  • Mount Olive enters the Tuesday afternoon contest ranked tenth in the nation in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll (NCBWA). The Trojans were swept by Barton in a three-game series last weekend in Barton.
  • Senior outfielder Vito Patierno leads the Trojans with a .400 batting average, 13 doubles and five home runs. Patierno went 2-5 against the Wolves last Wednesday.
  • Against the Wolves last Wednesday, the Trojans started Senior Justin Koehler. Koehler has a 3.35 ERA in 13 appearances and 10 starts. Koehler went three innings and struck out 1 batter.

The Wolves will hit the road for their final SAC conference road series against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial. The first pitch on Friday is set for 6:00 p.m.
