Wolves Give It Their All Against The Bulldogs

WINGATE, N.C. - Men's tennis comes up short in tight matches against Wingate, 1-6.

The Wolves got off to a slow start in doubles play. With Joshua Fritz back in the lineup, him and David Negzaoui put on the best performance against the Bulldog pair of Gabriel Constantino and Edis Nokic. In singles Constantino is ranked 37th in the nation in singles. Playing a very tight back and fourth match, Negzaoui and Fritz came up short 4-6.

Singles play favored better slightly, with tighter matches and a win on court six. Noel Bartz is back in familiar territory after suffering a loss last week to LMU. In the most even match of the day, Bartz squeezed out the win after an intense 7-5 first set. The Bulldog got the better of him in the second set despite another tight set, 4-6. Either side not showing any signs of fatigue, Bartz and his opponent brought the third set to a staggering 18 total points, with Bartz winning 10-8.

Today's matches saw another go to three sets, with court one featuring Negzaoui and #37 Constantino. Taking the first set 6-4, Negzaoui dropped the second, pushing the match to three. In yet another slug fest, Negzaoui emptied his gas tank, dropping the long set 7-10 to the ranked opponent.

With this match pushing the Wolves to the edge of the conference tournament, the Wolves look to keep their dreams alive against Anderson on Wednesday, April 3rd at 2 P.M.
