Glemaker Throws Gem as Wolves Split Double Header with #14 Wingate

NEWBERRY, S.C.- The Wolves (13-11, 1-1 SAC) split South Atlantic Conference double header against the #14 Bulldogs of Wingate (20-5, 3-1 SAC) this afternoon falling in the first game 7-2 and winning the second game 2-0.

Game 1
The Lady Wolves started game one off scoring two runs in the bottom of the first with a double to left field from Hailey Hill for Cassidy Phelps to score and a sacrifice fly to left field from Kristin Griffin for Hill to cross the plate.

The Bulldogs hit a grand slam and an RBI single in the top of the third inning to take the lead 5-2.
Wingate would add another run in the top of the fifth and the seventh inning to extend their lead 7-2.

The Wolves would attempt to come back with a double from Vanessa Wilson in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bulldogs would take game one of the afternoon 7-2.

Game 1 Leaders Game 2
The Wolves took game two against the #14 Bulldogs 2-0.

Freshman pitcher, Lex Glemaker earned the win for game two, pitching all seven innings holding the Bulldogs to three hits, no runs, three walks with four strikeouts.
Glemaker held the Bulldogs to no hits through the first three innings and improved her record to 3-4 for the season.

The Wolves out hit the Bulldogs with six hits to their three.

The Wolves got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a single from Kristin Griffin for Yahaira Williams to cross the plate.

Vanessa Wilson hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the Wolves lead 2-0 and tag her second home run of the season.

Game 2 Leaders
  • Lex Glemaker allowed three hits, no runs, and three walks in seven innings of work with four strikeouts.
  • Kristin Griffin went two for three at the plate with two singles and an RBI.
  • Vanessa Wilson went one for two at the plate with a home run.
Up Next
The Wolves are back at the Smith Road Complex to continue South Atlantic Conference play where they will welcome UVA Wise this Saturday for a double header set to begin at 1:00.
