Wolves Set to Host the Pacers Wednesday Evening

NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team (4-14, 1-5 SAC) will host the Pacers of the University of South Carolina-Aiken (7-11, 3-0 PBC) Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Rd. Complex.
 
The game will be live streamed on Flo Sports and live stats will be provided on newberrywolves.com. Fans can buy tickets online.
 
Scouting the Wolves
  • The Wolves enter this mid-week contest with the Pacers with a 4-15 overall record and a 1-5 SAC record. The Wolves fell to the Oilers of the University of Findlay last weekend at the Smith Rd. Complex 12-11 in 11 innings.
  • Freshman infielder Bryson Nuckols leads the Wolves with a .364 batting average in 10 starts. Junior outfielder Donovan Ford has a team high of 23 hits along with 16 stolen bases this season. Ford had seven stolen bases in the Findlay series which brings his career total up to 72. With 72 stolen bases, Ford is one away from tying Gilmore Stevens –'04 for third place all-time in career stolen bases.
  • On the mound, senior left hander Wyatt Carey threw six innings in relief throughout the three-game series against Findlay and struck out five batters in two appearances.
Scouting the Pacers
  • The Pacers enter Wednesday afternoon's contest fresh off of a non-conference loss to fellow South Atlantic Conference foe in Emory & Henry Tuesday afternoon in Aiken 12-9.
  • Redshirt junior Capers Molinaroli leads the Pacers offensive as he's currently hitting .419 on the season with four doubles and nine rbis. Redshirt junior Joseph Mozingo went 3-5 with four rbis in the loss to Emory & Henry
  • Sophomore pitcher Derek Espinoza was the starter last Wednesday for the Pacers in their 10-9 win over Francis Marion up in Florence. Espinoza threw three innings, striking out five batters and giving up three runs in the winning effort.
Up Next
The Wolves will hit the road for a three-game conference series against the Cobras from Coker University. That series will be on Friday and Saturday in Hartsville.
