Wolves Knock The Rail Splitters Off The Tracks

Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. - Women's tennis earn their fourth sweep of the season, defeating Lincoln Memorial 7-0. Every Wolf was in the win column as all three duo pairs won their matches as well.

Lincoln Memorial played difficult matches for the Wolves. Both pairings of Sofia Cardenas/Aina Miralles and Emma Arnel/Margarita Nikonorova won their matches 6-3, solidifying the point for the Wolves. Court #1 faced a little more heat with Ish Singh/Rosie Harfield winning 7-6 via tie breaker, putting the icing on the cake.

The first three singles matches of the day came from Court #2, 4 and 6. Court #4 featuring Singh was the first to finish where she wrapped things up quickly, defeating her opponent 6-2 in both sets. Court #6 featuring Harfield saw an exciting first set go down to the wire. Trading points, Harfield showed her veteran longevity and took the set 7-6 after a 7-5 tie breaker. Set two was the complete opposite, where Harfield came out victorious 6-0. The last court to finish the early window was #2 featuring Cardenas. Neither side was going away as the first two sets were shoot outs. Winning the first set 6-3, Cardenas was unable to closeout the second, losing 4-6. The third set was slightly more clean, as Cardenas won 6-2, solidifying the Wolves victory on the day.

The late window of the matches saw a tie breaker and another wild shootout. The first court to wrap things up was none other than Miralles who refuses to go down. Miralles swept her first set 6-0 then went on to win 6-3 in the second. Nikonorova's match started strong as she won the first set 6-3. Dropping the second set, a tie breaker was to be played, where Nikonorova emerged victorious after a long 11-9 score. The last court to finish was #1 Emma Arnel who got it done in two. A long first set was played, where Arnel defeated her opponent 7-5. Not quite as long, Arnel kept it within six this time, winning 6-4.

This win snaps a two loss streak and puts them in the right mentality where they'll face off at Wingate on Monday, April 1st at 2 P.M.
