NEWBERRY, S.C. - In their home opener, the men's team narrowly losses 3-4 against Francis Marion.
The wolves opened the day off in doubles going 1-2. Freshman
Thilo Lorenz and sophomore
Lucas Mruk led the wolves to victory after a drawn out set, pushing the final score 7-6. On court #1 the same match was mirrored with freshman
Daniel Watson and sophomore James Vincnet. Fighting till the absolute end, the duo pushed their match to 13 sets as well, only to lose in heartbreaking fashion 6-7.
During singles play, three wolves emerged victorious. Lorenz stayed undefeated on the day, winning his first set 7-6 then wrapping up the second one more cleanly, 6-3. Freshman
David Negzaoui found the win collum today after winning his first set 7-6 followed by his second set, 6-3. The last win came from junior
Joshua Fritz after forcing his match into a tie breaker. Dropping the first set in 12 points, Fritz made quick work of the patriots, tying the score with a 6-1 victory, followed by a 6-1 tiebreak victory.Â
The wolves hit the road this Saturday as the head to Dahlonega, Ga. where they will take on North Georgia at 11 A.M.
