DAHLONEGA, GA - The Newberry College Men's and women's tennis drop their matches to nationally recognized North Georgia. The men's tennis team fell 7-0 while the women's team fell 6-1.
The men's team falls to 1-3, while North Georgia improves to 2-0. The women's team falls to 2-1 while the no. 11 ranked Nighthawks improve to 2-0.
In the men's matchup, the duo of
David Negzaoui and
Joshua Fritz were found a victory for the Wolves on the afternoon with a 7-6 (7-3)Â tiebreak doubles victory over the Nighthawk's no.1 doubles team of Joaquin Benoit and Robin Eldin. At the end of the afternoon, the men fell 7-0. In singles play, the best competition came from Fritz who lost both his sets 4-6.
The women's side fell to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's #11 ranked Nighthawks, In the no. 2 doubles
Sofia Cardenas got the Wolves on the board as she defeated #23 ranked Johanna Lippert in two sets, both 6-4.
Margarita Nikonorova came close to victory in singles to Viktorie Wojcikova, #18 ITA in doubles.
Emma Arnal played well against the #5 ranked Angelina Linnikova, coming up short by a 6-3, 6-4 decision.
