Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. - Women's tennis (3-1) defeated Georgia College (2-2) this afternoon, 5-2.
Starting off hot in doubles play, the wolves went 2-1, earning their first point. On court one the double squad of
Ish Singh and
Rosie Harfield took down Young and Morrison with a 6-4 set score. Court three pulled off the second win of the day with the doubles squad of
Sofia Cardenas and
Aina Miralles taking down Chhabra and Almageo with a set score of 6-3.
In singles play, four wolves emerged victories. After dropping her first set,
Emma Arnal bounced back and defeated Young in the next two sets, 6-4 then 6-1. In the first set, she pushed ran her opponents tank dry after forcing 13 sets. Singh handles business with relative ease, defeating Morrison in two sets. The first set was a score of 6-4 followed by a 6-3 set. Miralles was the lone wolf to go undefeated today defeating Chhabra in three sets. Much like Arnal, Miralles dropped her first set 5-7 but came back swinging with a 6-4 and 6-3 victory. Freshman
Renee Dorval claimed her first collegiate win with a two set performance over Almageo. Forced to take the set in 13, Dorval took the second set 6-4.
The wolves will be back in action home Wednesday, February 21st at 2 P.M. against the Bearcats of Lander.
