NEWBERRY – The no. 12 Newberry College baseball team (1-2, 0-0 SAC) will hit the road for this weekend, as they travel south to face the no. 3 ranked Spartans of the University of Tampa (3-0, SSC).
Friday's Contest is at 6:00 p.m., Saturday's will be at 3:00 p.m., and Sunday's will be at noon.

The Wolves and the Spartans met last season at the Smith Rd. Complex as a tune-up for both teams before the NCAA tournament. Tampa took all three games in the series.
Scouting the Wolves.
- The Wolves are 1-2 on the season after losing two of three in their season opening series against Francis Marion. The Wolves took the final game in the home opener against the Patriots 4-2 behind a solid outing by Junior left-handed pitcher Ethan LeBron
- Senior right fielder Jacob LeBron had a solid weekend at the plate as he went 4-10 with five rbis and a stolen base.
- Junior center fielder Donovan Ford had a great weekend on the basepaths, swiping three bases throughout the three-game series.
Scouting the Spartans
- Tampa is off to a 3-0 start on the season after participating in the DII Winter Invitational in Minute Maid Park in Houston. Where they defeated, Arkansas Tech 17-5, No. 7 Millersville 13-1, and No. 5 Central Missouri 16-4.
- Tampa had a sold production from their offense throughout the weekend in Houston as junior outfielder Jake Griffith had a team high six hits going 6-13, two doubles and five rbis. Sophomore second baseman Brayden Woodburn had a team high 11 rbis on the weekend.
- On the mound, the Spartans had solid outings from their three starters throughout the weekend. Senior right-hander Skylar Gonzalez threw four scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out 5 batters in the 13-1 win against no. 7 Millersville.
