NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team (4-12, 1-5 SAC) fell to the Oilers from the University of Findlay (2-7, 0-0 G-MAC) by a 7-2 score Thursday evening at the Smith Rd. Complex.
Junior right-handed pitcher
Tyler Chinpire threw six innings and struck out four batters. Freshman
Bryson Nuckols went 3-4 at the plate with a double and two singles as the DH.
Donovan Ford got closer to number four on the all-time career steals list with a stolen base in the third inning.
The Oilers would strike first in the top of the fourth with three runs with two outs on a rbi single and a two run double.
The Wolves would add one run in the bottom of the fifth with a sac fly from
Rhett Jolly driving in Ford after his it 3-1.
The Oilers would add four more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-1 lead.
The Wolves would add one run but could not complete the comeback effort falling 7-2.
