NEWBERRY, S.C. - Women's lacrosse drop their stormy match against Mount Olive 17-7.
Before the storm at the end of the third period, four Wolves were able to find goal. Sophomore
Ella Todd led the team in goals with two unassisted tonight.
Emma Jobs,
Jadie Burns and
Mackenzie Watson were the remaining Wolves to score before the Weather delay. In the fourth period
Trysten Burns started the offense off with a righty laser to the far post. 37 seconds later,
Serena Elias would be the last Wolf to score off a crease shot.
At the end of regulation both teams were neck and neck with Mount Olive barely outdoing Newberry on converting clears, 17-20 compared to the Wolves 16-20. The same case is said about ground balls with the Trojans picking up 20 compared to the Wolves 19. The shining light on this squad came from the defense who put their skills to the test, causing 13 turnovers. Watson,
Marissa Plumer,
Madalyn Messersmith and
Morgan Parsons all led the team with two.
Adriana Hart,
Kaitlyn Mason, T. Burns and
Lana Howell found one a piece.
The Wolves look to keep their conference streak alive as the host Tusculum University on Saturday, March 2nd at 2 P.M.
