Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. - Women's tennis sweeps Mars Hill 7-0 to start conference play off 1-0.
Doubles play was a cake walk for the Wolves as all three duos defeated their opponents in dominant fashion. Court #1 featuring
Emma Arnal and
Margarita Nikonorova was the only doubles court to see the Lions win two sets, finishing off with a 6-2 set score. Both the duo of
Ish Singh/
Rosie Harfield and
Sofia Cardenas/
Aina Miralles won their match handily, 6-1.
Court one in singles was the most nerve racking for both sides as Emma Arnel and Elana Mackay splits 6-4 sets, forcing the match into a third set. Playing the same game as the first set, Arnel defeated Mackay in another 6-4 set. Miralles yet again put on the best performance for the Wolves after winning her first set 6-1 then improved in the second, solidifying her win 6-0. Singh was not far behind her as she won both her sets 6-1. Following the trend, Cardenas took her first set 6-1 as well followed by 6-3 in the second. On court three, Nikonorova pushed her first set 5-7 then was able to clean up in the second 6-3.
Alexa Gamborino-Suarez claimed her second win of the season on court six with a 4-8 score. With that win, Gamborino-Suarez remains the only Wolf to be undefeated with more than one match played.
The Wolves will take on Tusculum University next at home on Wednesday, February 28th at 2 P.M. in a must win conference match.
