MILLEDGEVILLE, GA - Men's tennis takes Georgia College (GC) down to the last match, losing 3-4.
Starting off in doubles, the duo of
David Negzaoui and
Joshua Fritz were the only ones to take down the Bobcats with a 6-3 set score.
In singles, Newberry split their matches, topping GC's #2, #3 and #6. Negzaoui defeated Gabe Cizek with little to no resistance, sweeping Cizek 6-0 in the first set followed by a 6-2 set score. After a 6-1 set score for Fritz, he dropped the second set, pushing a third tie breaker. Fritz gained his composure and overcame Noe Villen's rally with a 6-3 set.
Thilo Lorenz was the last wolf to find one tonight after his match also went to three. After losing his first set 5-7, Lorenz pulled out an uno reverse card not once but twice, over taking Braxton Wright 7-5 in the remaining two sets.
This Saturday. Feb 24. Newberry begins their conference play at Mars Hill. The match will begin at 2 P.M.
