• Newberry (6-15, 5-11 SAC) beat UVA Wise on Saturday in Eleazer Arena, 57-52 for their fifth conference win of the season.
• The Wolves, who scored the last 10 points of the game to come from behind and win, were led in scoring by
Caleb Byrd and his 12 points. Byrd also had six rebounds and two steals.
•
James Lovorn had 10 points after scoring 25 earlier in the week against Wingate.
•
Drake Downs led the team in rebounds with 10. It was the second time in three games he reached double-digit rebounds (14 against Catawba on Feb. 7).
• With 17 offensive rebounds against the Cavs, Newberry raised its season average to 12.7 per game – that puts them fourth in the SAC and 38th in Division II.
Scouting the Trojans:
• Anderson (13-11, 8-8) has lost two of its last three games including a 103-101 road loss to Carson-Newman last Saturday.
• The Trojans, who were down 24 at the half and saw their comeback bid come up just short, had six players in double figures against C-N.
• They were led by AJ Wright Jr.'s 25 points which he paired with 12 assists and five steals for a double-double.
• Garrett Denbow, AU's leading scorer at 17.3 points per game, had 20 in the loss.
• Anderson is the worst free-throw shooting team in the SAC (71.6%) – an area the Wolves can look to exploit.
