Box Score NEWBERRY – The Newberry College baseball team fell to the Bulldogs of Wingate University Friday evening 11-3.
The two teams will be back for a double-header tomorrow afternoon at the Smith Rd. Complex starting at 1:00 p.m.

Rhett Jolly went 3-3 on the evening with two doubles and a rbi along with a walk. Redshirt freshman
Brayden Gilson went four innings in relief striking out six Bulldog hitters and not allowing a run for the Wolves.
The Bulldogs struck first with one run in the top half of the first on a rbi single to make it 1-0.
The Wolves would respond in the bottom half of the first when
Luke Compton would get hit by a pitch and would advance to second on a ground out. Two batters later, Jolly would drive in Compton as he would hit a rbi double down the right field line to tie it at one.
In the second inning, the Bulldogs would tack on three runs on a three-run home run to make it 4-1. The Wolves would respond with a run on a rbi ground out to make it 4-2.
The Bulldogs would pull away in the third, putting seven runs to take an 11-2 lead. The Bulldogs and Wolves would trade scoreless innings until the bottom of the seventh, when the Wolves would score on a rbi groundout to make it 11-3.
