NEWBERRY – The Newberry College Baseball team (1-5, 0-0 SAC) will welcome the Indians of Catawba College (4-2, 0-0 SAC) to the Smith Rd. Complex tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
The game will be listed as a non-conference battle between the Indians and Wolves.
The Wolves and Indians last met in the 2023 season in the Smith Rd. Complex for a three-game series, where they only played two of the three games, which resulted with two Wolves' wins by scores of 7-0 and a 7-1.
Scouting the Wolves
- The Wolves are off to a 1-5 start this season after being swept in a three-game series by the No. 3 ranked Spartans of The University of Tampa last weekend.
- Senior catcher Rhett Jolly leads the team with a .316 batting average. Senior right-fielder Jacob LeBron leads the Wolves with five rbis with a .300 average.
- Sophomore reliever Blake Morrison has performed well in 4.1 innings of relief. In those 4.1 innings, Morrison has struck out four hitters and has earned a save.
Scouting the Indians
- Catawba is 4-2 so far this season with wins over Palm Beach Atlantic, Nova Southeastern, and Columbus State.
- The Indians like to wreak havoc on the basepaths, as Outfielders, Drew Robertson, Dylan Driver, and Sam Hunter lead the SAC with five stolen bases on the season.
- Hunter also leads the Indians at the plate with a .429 batting average in 21 at-bats. Hunter has two doubles, and eight rbis.
