GREENWOOD, S.C.- The Wolves dominated both of their games in the Brianna Surrento Classic earlier today. They won 9-1 against Claflin and 11-2 against Erskine.
Four Wolves recorded their first collegiate home runs, Maddy Staples, Kristin Griffin, Mady Brown, and Bethany Pigg.
Game 1
The Wolves defeated the Panthers of Claflin 9-1 in game one. The Wolves had 14 hits and no errors to the Panthers two hits and three errors.
The Wolves scored their first run in the second inning, Tori Rose singled to center field and Kristin Griffin scored.
The third inning was scoreless for both teams, and the Wolves fired in the fourth inning, scoring five runs.
The fourth inning started with a single to left field from Griffin, and she advanced to second on a Panther error, and Erin Wilson scored. Maddy Staples homered to left center for Griffin and herself to come across the plate to make the score 4-0. Cassidy Phelps singled through the right side for Sierra Brogdon and Leah Evans to score and finish the fourth inning 6-0.
Leah Evans singled up the middle for Griffin to score in the fifth inning to make their lead 7-0.
Claflin scored their first and only run in the sixth inning.
Newberry finished the game scoring two more runs in the sixth inning. Griffin hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield for Vanessa Wilson to come across the plate. Tori Rose reached first on an error by the Panthers third baseman and Mady Brown scored to end the game 9-1.

- Maddy Staples went one for one at the plate with a homerun and two RBIs.
- Cassidy Phelps went three for four at the plate with two RBIs.
- Kristin Griffin went two for three at the plate with three runs and two RBIs.
- Lindsey Foster pitched six innings, only allowing two hits and one run with five strikeouts.
Game 2
The Wolves won their second game of the tournament in five innings 11-2 against the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. The Wolves had seven hits and no errors to the Flying Fleet's five hits and one error.
The pack started their scoring in the second inning with three runs. To start it off Kristin Griffin advanced to second and Cassidy Phelps scored on a passed ball. Bethany Pigg homered to left center for Griffin and herself to score to finish the second inning 3-0.
In the third inning, Mady Brown homered to center field to put the Wolves up 4-1.
Bethany Pigg singled to left center and Vanessa Wilson scored in the fourth inning to make the score 5-1.
The Flying Fleet put another run on the board to try to catch up to the Wolves 5-2.
Two Wolves hit home runs in the fifth inning to end the game in mercy rule style against the Flying Fleet.
Vanessa Wilson started it off with a single to third base for Melanie Carr to advance and score on an error and Brown to score also. Kristin Griffin homered to center field for Hailey Hill and Vanessa Wilson to score. Bethany Pigg homered to left field to finish the game 11-2.
Game 2 Leaders
- Bethany Pigg went three for three at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs.
- Kristin Griffin went one for two at the plate with a home run and three RBIs.
- Jayla Jackson pitched four innings, only giving up two runs with four strikeouts.
