Box Score In a battle against South Atlantic Conference Piedmont Division champion Wingate, the Wolves fell 38-0.
The Wolves ran for 187 yards led by
Trakell Murray's 50 yards on four carries and true freshman Kenmane Brunson, playing in his first game of the year, had 39 yards on nine carries.
Six different Wolves all had runs of over 10 yards including Murray (28), Brunson (16),
Dwayne Wright (22),
Ja'Corey Martin (13),
Coleman Gray (25), and
Quanta Jackson (11).
Martin started the game at quarterback and ran for 27 yards on nine carries, Gray came off the bench in the second half to complete three passes for 44 yards and ran for 21 yards on five carries.
JaMias Halloway had two receptions for 35 yards including one for 22 yards.
Colby Taylor had another outstanding day for the Wolves defense, registering a pair of quarterback sacks for losses of 12 yards, a forced fumble and five total tackles.Â
Luke Taylor had seven total tackles from his linebacker spot while
Ja Stevens added six tackles, five of them solo.
The Wolves had four drives into Wingate territory including a drive to the Bulldog five-yard line in the last 30 seconds of the half but came up short on a fourth down and two.
Newberry held Wingate to just 17 total first downs.
The Wolves close out the season Saturday afternoon November 16 on Senior Day as they host Emory & Henry at 1:00 p.m. at Setzler Field.
